Biography

Susannah Kricker is a board-certified family physician and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She received her medical degree from Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. Dr. Kricker completed her internship and residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Scripps College in Claremont, CA. Dr. Kricker will be treating patients at Saint Peter’s Hospital. She has a particular interest in reproductive health, transgender health, treatment of substance use disorders, and preventive medicine.

Dr. Kricker’s path to medicine is “non-traditional.” She studied English Literature and Gender Studies during college. Before deciding to pursue medicine, Dr. Kricker spent several years working various jobs, including a carpenter doing historic reconstruction, an English tutor, a childcare provider, and a volunteer in an afterschool program in rural Peru. The decision to attend medical school did not hinge on a single moment of epiphany but on many realizations about her desire to engage with people and communities. Dr. Kricker chose to pursue family medicine because she loves the continuity of care. While she enjoys the satisfaction of performing procedures and treating acute illness, what draws her to medicine is the incremental steps involved in taking care of patients over a long period of time.

What Dr. Kricker loves most about her job is her patients. She believes the most important thing to do is listen closely to her patients and try to understand the factors that contribute to their health, not just in their medical history but in their personal lives and social environment. Dr. Kricker works with patients to determine what is most important to them regarding their lives and health. She aims to understand what motivates her patients when making health care decisions to use as a foundation to build a plan for their care.

Dr. Kricker is originally from Saugerties, NY. She loves spending time with her family, including her husband and 2-year-old daughter. Dr. Kricker enjoys hiking, biking, and finding new places to explore.
