Dr. Callinan was drawn to the medical field during her time in college when she served as an aide in a nursing home and found that she loved direct patient care and getting to know the whole person. She was thrilled doing almost everything during rotations, even surgery! Through great mentorship and coaching, Dr. Callinan landed on family medicine as she gets to provide so many types of care for her patients. She loves connecting with people and supporting them as they go through the roller coaster of life. To Dr. Callinan, the most important part of the visit is checking in with how her patient is doing emotionally and socially as psychosocial components affect all other care. She believes overall health has many facets (physical, emotional, spiritual), and supporting and growing those many facets is hard work but worth it! One thing that satisfies Dr. Callinan professionally is being able to help people work toward and achieve their health goals.
Dr. Callinan is originally from the Capital Region area, specifically Latham. She enjoys yoga, Peloton cycling workouts, hiking, singing, reading, and gardening in her spare time.
