Biography

Originally from Niskayuna, NY, Dr. Erik Augspurger is a resident physician at Albany Family Medicine in Albany, NY. Dr. Augspurger fell in love with hockey and science. After playing competitive hockey in Maine for a couple of years post-high school, he moved back home to study pre-medicine at UAlbany. Remaining close to his hometown allowed him to develop other passions outside of medicine, like volunteering as an EMT/firefighter and coaching high school hockey. Dr. Augspurger’s journey into family medicine was initiated during his undergraduate career as an EMT, where he witnessed firsthand the crucial role primary care plays in the overall health of a patient. During his time coaching high school hockey, he became particularly intrigued by primary care sports medicine and was excited to learn how to integrate his interest in family medicine with sports-related care. When Dr. Augspurger’s not at the ice rink or caring for patients, he is most likely outside with his wife and their energetic puppy named Bubba.
